Editing a Site Location

Prev Next

This section describes how to move the location of your site. You can also check the settings of your site to determine if the Spatial Reference System matches the coordinates of your processed dataset, if not you can experience errors, for example Too far from site.

  1. Open the Site Setup (enter Draft Mode).

  2. Navigate to Settings > Edit Site Location.

  3. Add the address of coordinates of the location.

  4. Click Show advanced settings. The following screen is displayed where you can edit the following:

    • Base point: Longitude, Latitude, Z/Height.

    • Rotation:

      • Angle

      • rx, ry

    5. Click Spatial reference system. The following screen is displayed, click the drop-down menu and select the appropriate spatial reference system.

Search by name or by EPSG code. This setting applies to the site. NavVis IVION doesn't add the EPSG code to an .nvd file.

Tip: Use the z value of one of your survey control points when setting up the site location to define the position of the zero elevation line.

Note: Changing the base point's Z/Height updates the site's zero-elevation reference. It doesn't change the z-values stored in your control point file, and it doesn't update datasets you've already processed. To change those z-values, edit the control point file directly.

FAQ

Does the EPSG code get added to my .nvd file?

No. The EPSG code (spatial reference system) is a setting on the site, not something written into an .nvd file. To set it, go to Site Setup, enter Draft Mode, then go to Settings > Edit Site Location > Show advanced settings > Spatial reference system, and search for your EPSG code.

If I change the site base level, does that change the z-values in my control point file?

No. The base point's Z/Height sets the site's zero-elevation reference for georeferencing. It doesn't change the z-values in your control point file, and it doesn't update datasets you've already processed. To change those z-values, edit the control point file directly.

If my site uses only local coordinates, does changing the base level change the z-value?

No. When a site uses local coordinates only, the origin of the local coordinate system stays fixed relative to the site. Changing the site base level doesn't change the z-values of your local coordinates.
