Setting Up the Harness System

Use this guide to set up the harness system before you start scanning.

Caution:

The harness system is designed to support the device while scanning. It is not personal protective equipment (PPE) and does not protect you in an accident.

Warning: Always take care when wearing the harness system.

Make sure the harness system does not become entangled or trapped in machinery. This could lead to serious or even fatal injury.

Do not run while wearing the harness system.

Do not use the harness system with the hand support strap closed and the harness plates open.

Only use the harness system to support the NavVis CLX while scanning.

Do not use the harness system for anything other than its intended purpose.

1. Separate the harness plates.
   Press the tab in the middle and pull the two sections apart.
   

2. Put on the harness system.
   Place the harness system over your shoulders so the NavVis logo is visible (back view).
   

3. Position the harness system.

   Place the harness system as shown (front view).
   

4. Push the harness plates together.
   Push them together as shown, until you hear a click.
   

Note

Make sure there is no gap between the two harness plates once they are locked in place.

5. Adjust the height and width.
   Tighten or loosen the straps using the buckles.
   

6. Adjust the harness system extension.
   You can make extra adjustments on the sides.
   

7. Set up the hand support strap.

   Remove the hand support strap buckle from the right side.
   

8. Then attach it to the left side (magnetic).
   

9. Place the device on the holster.
   Place the device on the harness holster as shown.
   

Caution

Make sure the harness system is properly secured before attaching the device.

9. Insert the hand support strap locking pin.
   Push the hand support strap locking pin into the lock on the device.
   

Your neck must not experience any strain when the device is secured in the harness holster and the hand support strap is fastened.

Caution

Make sure the hand support strap is securely attached.

10. Adjust the hand support strap.

    Adjust it to set the device to the correct position.
    

Correct height and angle

The correct position for the device is shown here:

• A: Good position. The scanner has a clear field of view past the operator's shoulders.
  

• A: Too close. If the device is too close to the body in an upright position, the scanner cannot capture data from the floor or ceiling.
  

• B: Too low. If the device is too low and the scanner is horizontal, SLAM is less stable, since the walls in front of and behind the operator are not visible to the scanner.
  

Warning:

Adjust the height or position of the harness system, or take a break, if you feel uncomfortable. Check that the harness system is adjusted correctly to support the weight of the device. Use the harness system to distribute the weight and be aware of additional health precautions.
