Setting up the Harness System

Caution: The Harness System is only designed to support the device while scanning. It should not be considered as personal protective equipment (PPE) in the event of a fall or other type of accident.
Warning: Always take care when wearing the Harness System.
Ensure the Harness System does not become entangled or trapped in machinery as this could lead to serious or even fatal injury.
Do not run while wearing the Harness System.
Do not use the Harness System with the Hand Support Strap closed and the Harness Plates open.
Only use the Harness System for supporting the NavVis MLX while scanning.
Do not use the Harness System for anything other than its intended use.
Separate the Harness Plates
Press the tab in the middle and pull the two Harness Plates apart.
Putting on the Harness System
Setting up the Harness Holster
Push the Harness Plates together as shown, until you hear a click.
Note: There should be no space between the two Harness Plates once it is locked in place.
Adjusting the width straps
Adjust the width of the harness using the buckles and straps.Adjust the height straps
Adjust the height of the harness using the buckles and straps.
Setup the Hand Support Strap
a. Remove the Hand Support Strap buckle from the right side.
b. Put the buckle of the Hand Support Strap buckle on the left side (magnetic).
Adjusting the Harness System Extensions
Place the device on the Harness System Holster
Place the device on the Harness System Holster as shown.
Caution: Ensure that the Harness System is properly secured before placing the device.
Inserting the Hand Support Strap Locking Pin and adjust the strap
a. Push in the Hand Support Strap Pin into the lock of the device.
b. Adjust the Hand Support Strap to set the device to the correct position.
The Harness System should sit tight, but comfortable. Your neck should be free of any pressure when the device is in the Harness Holster and the Hand Support Strap is attached.
Caution:
Ensure that the Hand Support Strap is securely attached.
This is not a safety strap. Always hold the device with at least one hand.
Correct Height and Angle
The correct position for the device is shown here:
A: Good position. With the scanner higher than the shoulders, so the scanner can see past the shoulders of the operator.
A: Too close. Too close to the body (vertical/upright position) the scanner captures no floors & ceilings.
B: Too low. Too low (horizontal/prone) → leads to less stable SLAM, as the beginning and end of corridors are not visible to the scanner.

Caution: Do not let go of the handle while using the NavVis MLX.
Adjust the height and/or position of the Harness System or take a break if you feel uncomfortable. Check if the Harness System is adjusted correctly to support the weight of the device. Use the Harness System to distribute the weight and be aware of additional health precautions.
