The NavVis Academy helps you and your colleagues learn how to set up and use NavVis products. Follow this guide to access the Academy, find your courses, and plan your training from device setup to your first IVION project.
Before you begin
You need your own NavVis Portal account to access the Academy. If you have not registered yet, complete your registration before continuing.
To follow the practical training sequence, you also need access to:
The NavVis capture device you are learning to use.
A suitable area for a test scan.
An IVION instance where you can set up a practice project.
You can start the Academy courses before preparing your test scan.
Access the NavVis Academy
Sign in to the NavVis Portal.
In the website header, open the Learn menu.
Select NavVis Academy.
On the Academy welcome page, select Click here to enter the Academy.

Follow the prompts to sign in using single sign-on (SSO) with your NavVis Portal account.
After signing in, the Academy Home page opens.
Start your training
Choose the training that matches the products you use. If you are learning the complete capture-to-project workflow, follow the sequence below.
1. Complete your device training
Start with the NavVis VLX or NavVis MLX training, depending on your device.
Complete the device training before your first test scan. Use the course instructions to prepare your device and practice the capture workflow.
2. Capture a test scan
Apply what you learned in a small practice project. Capture at least two datasets with a clear area of overlap.
Plan your capture so that both datasets include part of the same physical area. Keep the datasets for the IVION stage of your training.
3. Complete the IVION courses
Work through the IVION courses while setting up your first project with your test data.
Follow the relevant course instructions, then apply each step to your project. Working with data you captured helps you connect the device training with the IVION workflow.
Train your team
There is no limit to the number of people from your organization who can sign up for the Academy. Each person must first register for their own NavVis Portal account.
Your colleagues can follow the training relevant to their work. Team members who capture data should start with their device training. Those working with captured data can focus on the relevant IVION courses.
