Introduction
Problem description
Very occasionally the screws that secure the pivot mechanism that enables the customer to fold the NavVis VLX need to be replace because the thread has been stripped..
Scope
This procedure refers to the NavVis VLX 1/2/3
Pre-requisites
The following tools are required to the replace the screws:
Only for G9 and above: Plier, type: DIN 52556 shape C bore circlips 8-13mm.
Galvanized screws with socket head: M5x30
7mm wrench
Blue loctite
Replacement procedure (VLX 1 - G8)

1 Remove the screw
Use a 6mm wrench to hold the screwholder
Using the torque wrench from the VLX box, unscrew the screen counterclockwise,
As you unscrew, there maybe some resistance at first because of applied loctite,
You may hear a cracking sound of breaking loctite, continue to unscrew.

2 Installing the new screw
Apply blue loctite to the upper half of the screw M5x30.
Put on the washer between screw and screw holder.
Install new screw.

Caution: Do not forget the washer

Carefully remove the washer first, then the spring.

Now you have the the circlip / spring / washer as shown below.

3 Remove the stripped screw
Use a 7mm wrench, to hold the screw holder.
Remove the stripped screw (unscrewing may be difficult if it is damaged).
There's a normal washer between the screw and screw holder, be sure to not loosing this washer while taking out the screw.
4 Install the new screw
Use an M3x30 galvanized screw (inner hex head for the mounting).
Use galvanized screw as the stainless screw will still rust in humid conditions.
Apply blue loctite on the screw and install the new screw.
5 Reinstall spring and circlip
Reinstall the spring / washer / circlip to secure the mechanism.
