A guide to determining a NavVis Device Mac Address

Scope

NavVis VLX and MLX

Prerequisites

  • A wired USB-A keyboard can be used to simplify input.

  • Click here to see the USB-A port where the keyboard can be connected.

  • For the MLX, a USB-C dongle is required to connect an external keyboard.

  • If the screen is too small, you can mirror the display through a VNC connection.

Procedure

1. Exit the Mapping UI

  • Click the Settings icon.

  • Scroll down to the bottom and click Exit to close the Mapping UI.

2. Open the Terminal

  • On the Ubuntu UI, click the Terminal icon on the left toolbar.

3. Check the MAC Address

  • In the open terminal, type the following command and press Enter: ifconfig

  • The MAC addresses will be shown in the output:

    • The first corresponds to the Ethernet.

    • The second corresponds to the Wi-Fi module.

4. Reopen the Mapping UI

  • Close the terminal by clicking the X button.

  • Click the Mapping UI icon to reopen the interface.
