How to precisely crop data time frames in NavVis IVION processing

Prev Next

Introduction

Purpose

When creating a processing task in NavVis IVION, you can define the time frame you want to process using the slider. You can select the time frame that includes the dataset based on the preview map.

Use this procedure to determine the precise time frame that you want to select in this step.

Scope

NavVis IVION Processing

Procedure

Check the panorama images to determine when the dataset should start and end.

  1. In the raw data folder, open the folder cam/preview to see the small scale camera images. These images are still not stitched into the panoramas and each panorama is represented by 4 images covering the front, back, left and right side of the VLX.

  2. Look through the camera images to determine where the dataset should start and end. Note the file number of the start and end image location.

Check the time stamp of the panorama images.

  1. Open the info folder from the datasets_rec.

    time frame2

  2. Open the information files with the same numbers as the start and end panorama images.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the info files and note the timestamps.

Calculate the start and end times

  1. Open the dataset.json file.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the file and note the mapping_timestart.

    time frame5

  3. Subtract the mapping_timestart from the start and end panorama timestamps.

  4. Convert the start and end times from seconds to minutes (MM:SS). You could use a simple online tool like this:https://www.inchcalculator.com/convert/second-to-minute/

Create the processing task

Now that you have the start and end time of the desired crop section, you can apply it to your processing task:

  1. Click the three dots next to the dataset you want to crop.

  2. Click Define processing time frame.

    time frame6

  3. In the screens that displays, use the slider to choose the part of the dataset you want to process. Select the time frame based on the start and end point you have calculated in the previous steps. Finally, click Define time frame to process your data.

FAQ

What is the purpose of defining a time frame in NavVis IVION?

The purpose is to select the specific time frame for processing a dataset using the slider based on the preview map.

How can I determine the start and end of my dataset?

You can check the panorama images in the raw data folder and note the file numbers of the start and end image locations.

Where can I find the timestamps for the panorama images?

You can find the timestamps by opening the info folder from the datasets_rec and checking the information files corresponding to the start and end panorama images.

Is it necessary to convert the start and end times from seconds to minutes?

Yes, you need to convert the times to minutes (MM:SS) for the processing task.

What steps do I follow to create a processing task after calculating the time frame?

Click the three dots next to the dataset, select 'Define processing time frame', use the slider to choose the time frame, and then click 'Define time frame' to process your data.
