Use this guide to build custom operator masks easily with image editing tools for NavVis SiteMaker. You can make use of the default operator mask, define the regions to hide with simple polygon selections, fill them correctly, and export a PNG that NavVis SiteMaker can reliably interpret.
How the mask works:
It is a .png file with the same dimension as the panorama: Width: 8192 Height: 4096.
In the processing, mask is overlayed on the panorama, white regions from the mask will be retained, while the black regions will be masked.
The masks can be created in two different ways.
Method 1: Using Microsoft Paint
Open the default operator mask, (e.g., 00000-pano_mask.png)
(1).png?sv=2022-11-02&spr=https&st=2026-03-19T19%3A40%3A03Z&se=2026-03-19T19%3A51%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=lo6Z9H8tcMXjzjQ1VqIadDg6ISDPNYPuUxJvP2xufCI%3D)
Define the shape of the pano area you want to mask: Create polygons using shapes, or draw an arbitrary shape using brush
.png?sv=2022-11-02&spr=https&st=2026-03-19T19%3A40%3A03Z&se=2026-03-19T19%3A51%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=lo6Z9H8tcMXjzjQ1VqIadDg6ISDPNYPuUxJvP2xufCI%3D)
Fill the shape in black to mask out from the panorama. Alternatively, create more white regions, to retain color information in the final panorama.

Save the .png image, this is the new custom mask that can be used in your SiteMaker project.

Method 2: Using MacOS’ Preview under macOS
Open the default operator mask, (e.g., 00000-pano_mask.png) using preview.
Define the shape of the pano area you want to mask: Create polygons using shapes, fill the shape in black to extend the mask region.
