Introduction

User guide to VLX Ubuntu 22.04 upgrade

  • The Ubuntu 22.04 update can only be detected by NavVis System Software version 3.2.0 or later.
    If your device is running an earlier version, you must first update the NavVis System Software and restart your device before proceeding with the Ubuntu upgrade.

  • Do not remove the batteries or disconnect the Ethernet cable during this process.

Procedure

  1. Connect to the Internet
    Ensure your NavVis VLX device is connected to the internet using an Ethernet cable connection.

  2. Check for System Updates
    Open the Settings page on your device and select “Check for updates”.

  3. Start the Ubuntu 22.04 Upgrade
    Once the Ubuntu 22.04 update is detected, a confirmation screen will appear. Click on “Upgrade & Restart” to begin the process.

  4. Ensure Sufficient Battery Power
    The update will only proceed if device’s batteries are charged to at least 50%.

  5. Remove the External SSD
    Safely remove the external SSD from the device. This step is required for the update to begin.

  6. Upgrade process will begin
    The device will start downloading and installing the Ubuntu 22.04 system update. This process may take several minutes.

  7. Automatic Reboots
    After the installation is complete, the device will automatically reboot.
    After the device reboots, the installation of the new Ubuntu 22.04 operating system will take place. This process will take  approximately 5 minutes. Please wait until another automatic reboot.

  8. Confirmation of Upgrade
    After rebooting, the device will display a confirmation message indicating that the upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 was successful.
