Preparing for Scanning

Prev Next

To ensure the quality of the scanned data, prepare the site so that you do not encounter any obstacles and are able to walk freely throughout the area being scanned.

  • Open all doors and, if possible, keep them open during scanning. Use wooden wedges supplied in the box to prop doors open to prevent them from closing during the scan.

  • Turn on all available lights and open window coverings such as curtains and blinds to maximize natural and artificial lighting. Proper lighting is crucial as poor lighting can negatively impact the quality and accuracy of visual data, including panoramic images and point cloud colorization.

  • Remove or move any obstacles that might block your scanning path to ensure smooth, uninterrupted movement throughout the scanning area.

  • Move or conceal any confidential or sensitive materials from view to protect privacy and confidentiality, as any visible items will be captured in the scan.

  • Ensure that all batteries installed in the scanning device, including spare batteries, are fully charged before starting the scan.

  • Verify that the data storage device (such as a USB-C flash drive or SSD) is correctly inserted into its slot and ready to receive data.

  • Bring necessary materials such as floorplans and scanning routes to assist with the project planning and execution.

Sensors Field of View

Always be mindful of the sensor’s field of view. Scan in the direction you’re walking. Don’t get too close to walls or corners. In long corridors, focus on capturing distinctive shapes and features.
