How to Benchmark a NavVis SSD on device

Prev Next

Introduction

Your NavVis VLX device may experience performance issues and may show signs of lagging. One possible cause is an external SSD with insufficient write speed to handle the volume of data being recorded.

To verify this, a benchmark test on the external SSD to check its read and write speeds is required. Ideally, this should be done directly on the device to replicate the actual scanning conditions. Please follow the instructions below to perform the test:

  1. Close the Mapping UI
    a. Click on the Settings icon.
    b. Select Exit to close the Mapping UI.

  2. Open the Disks Application
    a. Open the Ubuntu menu.

b. Search for Disks.

c. Launch the Disks application.

  1. Run the Benchmark
    a. Click on the Menu icon (three vertical dots) and select Benchmark Disk.

b. Click Start Benchmark.

c. Set the number of samples to 1000.
d. Enable the option Perform write-benchmark.

e. Click Start Benchmarking
f. If prompted, enter your sudo password (https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/vlx-authentication-password )

  1. Share the Results
    a. Take a screenshot of the completed benchmark results.

b. Send the image via email to your assigned service engineer
