Can you buy your own external SSD for your NavVice device?

Yes you can
For very large projects or multiple employees, additional SSDs might be necessary to improve the timing for data transfer and post-processing.
Note: For NavVis VLX 2 (G10-xxx) and VLX 3, the SSDs that come as standard with the device are IP-rated (water resistant). This is achieved by using a rubber cover, this type of SSD is not an industry standard but can be purchased from NavVis by contacting your Account Manager.
Note: The IP cover can also be changed from one SSD of the same type to another.
Note: If the rubber cover is not applied on the SSD the IP-rating is not ensured this must be be considered by NavVis in case of a reported related defect of the device.
Purchasing your own
For NavVis M6 and the NavVis VLX 1 (G9-xxx), the SSDs used are industry standard (without IP protection). However, these SSDs can be purchased locally or online.

NavVis M6: Samsung 870 QVO SSD with 1TB storage, 2.5'' form-factor, SATA 6.0 Gb/s interface and 320MB/s write speed (MZ-77Q1T0BW)
NavVis VLX 1st generation: Samsung Portable SSD T5 with 1TB storage, USB 3.1 interface and 520 MB/s write speed (MU-PA1T0B/EU)
Check the formatting: Check that the new Samsung SSD is pre-formatted in Exfat. If it is not perform the formatting step.
