Routing

Use routing to find your way between locations in a site. NavVis IVION offers three ways to route: to a POI or Site Model entity, to a custom location, or between any two points.

Routing to a POI or Site Model entity

  1. In the topbar, click the Search icon and search for the POI or Site Model entity in the Search panel.

  2. Select the entity from the results to open its details panel, then click Route.

3. Choose the start location for the route: click Route from last position, select another POI or Site Model entity, or click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map.

Routing to a custom location

  1. Long-press (or long-click) anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map to create a custom location.

  2. The details panel for the custom location opens.

  3. Click Route.

  4. Choose the start location for the route: click Route from last position, select a POI or Site Model entity, or click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map.

Routing between two points

  1. Right-click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map.

  2. Select Route from here or Route to here.

  1. Choose a start location: click Route from last position, select a POI or Site Model entity, or click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map.

  2. Choose a destination: select a POI or Site Model entity, or click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map.

  3. A panel displays navigation instructions to the destination. Arrows in the 3D view show the route to take.

  1. Click any navigation step in the panel to jump to that step in the 3D view.


FAQ

How do I route to a POI or Site Model entity?

In the topbar, click the Search icon and find the entity, open its details panel, and click Route. Then choose your start location.

Can I create a custom location for routing?

Yes. Long-press anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map to create a custom location.

What steps do I follow to route between any two points?

Right-click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map, select Route from here or Route to here, and then choose your start and destination locations.

Will I receive navigation instructions after routing?

Yes. A panel displays navigation instructions to your destination.

Can I view specific navigation steps in the 3D view?

Yes. Click any navigation step in the panel to jump to that step in the 3D view.

How do I create a route in NavVis IVION?

NavVis IVION supports three routing methods: (1) Route to a POI or Site Model entity — click the Search icon in the topbar to find the item, open its details panel, and click Route; (2) Route to a custom location — long-press anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map to create a custom location, then click Route; (3) Route between any two points — right-click anywhere in the 3D view or 2D map and select Route from here or Route to here. After routing, a navigation panel displays step-by-step instructions, with arrows in the 3D view showing the route.
