Troubleshooting Failed Upload when uploading customized floor maps

Issue description

When trying to replace the generated maps from NavVis IVION with a customized version, the following error appears: “Failed upload: malformed input off: X length: X”

Troubleshooting procedure

There was an issue during folder compression when NavVis IVION expects a .zip-file to be uploaded. In particular cases, a (German) umlaut in the folder names can corrupt the .zip-file. When trying to upload the .zip, the error above is displayed.

Check the following

  • The folder structure of the originally downloaded maps must be exactly the same when uploading customized maps.

  • The .png images (maps) cannot be altered in size, orientation or color depth → otherwise NavVis IVION will reject them.

  • Unzip the .Zip-File and check for corrupted characters in the file/folder names → if so, rename the building and Bundle inside NavVis IVION and make sure that no umlaut is used in both names.
