This document contains safety instructions and regulatory notices for the NavVis CLX, referred to in this document as the device.

Always follow these safety instructions when using the device.
The device is intended for professional use only. Only competent persons should use it — someone trained in using the NavVis device by NavVis or a NavVis-certified partner. Failure to follow the advice in this document violates the safety standards for the device's intended use. NavVis GmbH assumes no liability for failure to comply with this advice.

Handling and physical protection
Always handle the device with care and stay aware of your surroundings. Avoid collisions. Do not drop or crush it.
Do not pierce the housing or otherwise damage the device. Do not use the device if it is damaged.
Do not use or store the device outside the recommended temperature, humidity, or altitude range (see Operating conditions above).
Keep out of reach of children and pets, and do not allow untrained personnel to use the device.
Heat and ventilation
Avoid prolonged contact with warm surfaces. Turn off the device if you notice excessive heat, as this may indicate an electrical fault.
Do not cover the air intakes or outlets. Blocking airflow can cause overheating and is a fire hazard.
Do not push objects into the air vents or other openings. This can short out interior components and cause fire or electric shock.
Moisture
Do not expose the device to heavy rain or snow. Avoid use when condensation may form inside the device, such as when moving from a cold to a warm environment.
The IP rating is valid only in certain scanning positions. Dry the device before changing its position.
Site and environmental awareness
Be aware of traffic and learn the essential safety measures at the site. Follow all safety measures in the scanning environment.
The device may block your view. Watch your surroundings to avoid hazards such as stairs, manholes, and tripping.
Hold the handrail when walking up or down stairs while scanning.
Ergonomics
Do not use the device for long periods without breaks. Take regular breaks.
Use safe lifting and carrying techniques. Stop using the device if you feel pain or strain.
When carrying the device, your center of gravity may change. Take extra care to avoid tripping or falling.
Power and cables
Use only NavVis-approved chargers that match your product's wattage requirements. Other chargers may cause slow charging or hardware faults.
Pull cables by their connectors or pull tabs. Never pull the cord itself — this can expose internal wires or damage pins.
Service and repair
Do not open, dismantle, or attempt to repair the device. Only the manufacturer can repair it.
After any authorized repair, verify that the device is in a safe state before returning it to operation.
Compliance and warranty
Use the device only as instructed in the documentation. Using it in a way not specified by the manufacturer may impair its protection and cause damage or harm to you or others. Failure to follow the procedures and advice in the documentation voids the device's warranty. NavVis GmbH assumes no liability for non-compliance.
Laser safety information
The NavVis CLX has a Class 1 laser scanner, which is safe under normal working conditions.
Warning: Laser radiation.
Do not look into the transmitting laser through a magnifying product (microscope, eye loupe, magnifying glass, etc.), for maximum self-protection.
During operation, the entire cover lens is the product's laser-emitting window. Looking at the cover lens is the same as looking into a transmitting laser.
Caution: Spinning components.
Moving parts inside the laser scanners can crush or cut.
Never remove the casing from the laser scanners.
Never use the device when the casing is cracked, loose, or burnt.
The device's laser scanner meets the requirements of IEC 60825-1:2014, EN 60825-1:2014+A11:2021, and 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11, except for deviations (IEC 60825-1 Ed.3) under Laser Notice No. 56, dated May 8, 2019.
The sensor has no user-accessible controls or adjustments.
Battery safety information
The NavVis CLX uses a Tefoo GS2040CH Standard Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 10.8 V / 3.30 Ah / 35.64 Wh). The Li-Ion battery contains a flammable electrolyte and must be handled according to these safety instructions.
Warning: Explosion/burn hazard.
May cause severe injury or death; electrolyte can burn skin and eyes.

General battery and charger safety instructions
Do not charge if the charger is damaged.
For professional use only.
Do not throw or drop the battery. Handle it with care.
Do not open, dismantle, or attempt to repair it.
Always keep it away from water, heat, and fire.
Never leave the battery charger and Li-Ion battery unattended during charging.

For indoor use only.
Temperature range: 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F).

Do not use the battery if it is damaged.
Do not charge the battery if it is damaged.
Do not subject the battery to mechanical shock, crushing, impact, or puncture.
Do not expose the battery to water, fire, or excessive heat. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight.
Do not open or dismantle the battery.
Do not short-circuit the battery.
Do not store batteries loosely in a box or drawer, where they may short-circuit each other or be short-circuited by other metal objects.
If you buy replacement Li-Ion batteries, do not remove the packaging until you need them.
Charge the Li-Ion battery before first use.
Use only the matching smart charger supplied with the device (Tefoo GSCH04CNV or equivalent) to charge the Li-Ion battery.
Match the plus (+) and minus (−) marks on the battery and equipment to ensure correct use.
Keep the battery out of the reach of children.
Keep the battery clean and dry.
Use the battery only for its intended application.
Remove the battery from the equipment when not in use, if possible.
Do not store a battery in a discharged state for longer than 1 month.
Do not store a Li-Ion battery for longer than 6 months without recharging. Recharge it to at least 30% state of charge every 6 months to prevent deep discharge.
Recycle or dispose of the battery properly.
If the battery leaks, do not let the liquid touch your skin or eyes. If contact occurs, wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Intended use
The device is used for mapping or scanning indoor and outdoor environments, to create a digital copy or twin of reality, with a focus on AEC and surveying workflows.
The NavVis CLX is a mobile mapping handheld dynamic scanning system, carried and operated by hand.
During operation, you might also place the device against a wall or on the floor to capture a control point.
Regular usage time is limited by battery capacity; replace the battery when it's depleted.
Only the manufacturer may repair the device. Verify the device is in a safe state after any authorized repair.
