Introduction

The NavVis IVION Connector for Autodesk® Forma Data Management connects points of interest (POIs) in NavVis IVION with Issues in Autodesk® Forma Data Management and keeps them synchronized. This allows users in AEC and other industries to improve issue detection, tracking and resolution by combining large-scale, high-accuracy NavVis as-is data from construction sites and buildings in NavVis IVION with Autodesk Forma’s industry-leading issue and document management.

The NavVis IVION Connector for Autodesk® Forma Data Management offers three types of sync:

• Basic Sync:

  • Links an Issue type in a specific Autodesk Forma project with the POI category in a specific NavVis IVION site.

  • Regularly syncs (creates, reads and updates) the content of Issues with the specified Issue type and the content of POIs with the specified POI category.

  • Moves attachments (e.g. field photographs) uploaded to an IVION POI to the linked Issue so that files and documents can be managed in Autodesk Forma.

• Enhanced Sync:

  • Everything from Basic Sync.

  • Aligns the point cloud in the linked NavVis IVION site with a RVT file in the linked Autodesk Forma project.

  • Regularly syncs positions of Autodesk Forma Issues in the RVT file and NavVis IVION POIs to make cross-team collaboration more efficient .

• Georeferenced Sync (only for .ifc)

  • Everything from Enhanced Sync.

  • Enables automatic alignment based on georeferenced coordinate systems.

What is the workflow?

Before the NavVis IVION Connector for Autodesk® Forma Data Management (called Connector in the following) can be used, it needs to be added to your Autodesk Forma account. Autodesk Forma admins can find and add the NavVis IVION Connector for Autodesk® Forma Data Management by navigating to “Account Admin” and then to the "Apps" tab.

In addition, you need a working NavVis IVION instance. Please contact your NavVis representative or visit this page to know moreandget access to NavVis IVION. To register your instance please email support@navvis.com or visit https://support.navvis.com/ and request to register your instance URL for usage with the Forma connector.

Prerequisites

• NavVis IVION Core or Enterprise​ subscription.

• IVION site with NavVis VLX or MLX data, processed with IVION Processing​, and proper roles and rights set up for NavVis IVION POIs

• Free NavVis IVION Connector for Autodesk® Forma Data Management from Autodesk App Store​.

• Autodesk Forma Data Management (Autodesk Forma) account, valid subscription for Autodesk Forma Data Management and proper roles and rights set up for Autodesk Forma Issues​.

How can I get it?

1. Autodesk Account Admin needs to install the NavVis IVION Connector for Autodesk® Forma Data Management in Autodesk Forma’s Account Admin section under “Apps” (no download required)​

2. Ensure you are a NavVis IVION user with Edit permission for POIs​.

3. Ensure you have an Autodesk Forma user with access to a relevant project.

4. Start the Autodesk App Store to initiate the NavVis IVION - Autodesk Forma Connection, which will redirect you to the integration web application for configuration.

• NavVis IVION Core or Enterprise​

• A NavVis IVION site with NavVis VLX or MLX data, processed with NavVis IVION Processing​, and proper roles and rights set up for NavVis IVION POIs.
