Introduction
Purpose
If datasets are saved with identical names and timestamps, it may occasionally result in data being overwritten or becoming difficult to manage. This issue could arise due to a depleted CMOS battery. The following procedure describes how to verify this issue.
Scope
NavVis VLX
Pre-requisites
NavVis VLX
External USB-A wired keyboard
Procedure
1. Connect a keyboard to the VLX USB port
Connect the external keyboard to the USB port of the device.
The USB port is located near the device handle: https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/locating-the-parts-of-your-navvis-vlx
Open the flap at the opposite end of the Ethernet port to access the USB port.
2. Turn on the VLX.
Push the power button to turn on the device
3. Boot into device Bios
Once the Intel NUC logo is displayed
Repeatedly tap F2 on the keyboard to enter the device bios.
4. Find the system Date.
In the bios, scroll down with the direction keys of the keyboard until you see the system date.
If the system date is inaccurate, this would indicate a depleted CMOS battery.
Take a picture of the system date
5. Get further help
Send the picture to your dedicated service engineer or contact support@navvis.com for further help on CMOS battery replacement.
