Introduction

Provides a way to project any current NavVis device screen wirelessly for a presentation or troubleshooting.

Procedure

1 Connect your NavVis device to the internet

This can be done preferably via the Ethernet port.
Alternatively, Wi-Fi can be used following these instructions: https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/how-to-connect-your-navvis-vlx-to-wi-fi-from-ubuntu.
If connected via Wi-Fi, open a terminal and enter the command “navvis-mapping-ui -wf“ before proceeding. This ensures that WiFi remains connected when the Mapping UI is reopened.
The NavVis device and the computer in use must be connected to the same internet network.

2 Exit the Mapping UI

Click the “Exit” button in the settings page of the Mapping UI. This takes you to the Ubuntu home screen

3 Turn on screen sharing

Optionally, a keyboard or mouse may be connected to the device to eliminate the need for the small display and make the setup easier.
From the VLX
- Open the settings app.
- Select Sharing from the left hand menu, ensure the sharing icon is toggled on and click Screen sharing.
- Toggle on Screen sharing.
- Connect via your computer.
From the MLX.
- Open the settings app.
- Click Sharing from the left hand menu and select Remote Desktop.
- Click the check box Enable Legacy VNC Protocol.
- Connect via your computer.

4 Connect via VNC on your computer

Linux
- Download any VNC client (Tested on Remmina).
- Add a new VNC connection using the Serial number of your device as the Server then click Connect.
- Enter the password (Should be “mapper” if the password on the device is unchanged).
- Connection established.
MacOS
- Download any VNC client (Tested on VNC connect).
- Add a new VNC connection using the Serial number of your device as the Server the click Connect.
- Enter the password (Should be “mapper” if the password on the device is unchanged).
- Click Continue on the security pop-up.
- Connection established.
Windows
- Download any VNC client (Tested on TightVNC).
- Add a new VNC connection using the Serial number of your device as the Server then click Connect.
- Enter the password (Should be “mapper” if the password on the device is unchanged).
- Click OK.
- Connection established.
