Information about flying with the NavVis VLX as checked baggage.
Most airlines classify the NavVis VLX as oversized baggage. You must book this with your airline before flying, and there may be an extra charge.
Battery Preparation Before Flying
Caution: Short-circuits
Damage to electronic components.
Only certified personnel are allowed to prepare the Lithium Ion batteries for air transport.
The NavVis VLX batteries must be taken on the plane as hand luggage. Cover the battery connectors with electrical tape to prevent short-circuits, or put each battery in a separate plastic bag.
The airline may require you to carry the battery certificates and material safety data sheets. Check the maximum watt hours per battery allowed as cabin baggage by your airline. Normally, batteries with less than 100 Wh can be carried without prior approval. This information is also useful when passing security.
Weight per battery | 550 g |
Watt hours per battery | 98 Wh |
