Create a POI

1. In the site, right-click where you want to add the POI and select Create POI.

The Create POI dialog opens with two tabs: Basic and Advanced. Use the expand icon in the top-right to enlarge the dialog.

Basic tab

1. Language: select the language for the POI's name and description, and click Add language to add translations.

2. Name: enter the POI's name.

3. Category: select a category from the drop-down. (Each POI belongs to a category, and each category belongs to a group.)

4. View configuration: choose the view that is restored when someone opens the POI:

   • Use current view — saves the current location, angle, and zoom.

   • Use closest panoramic image — opens the nearest panorama.

5. View and Edit: select the user groups that can view and edit the POI. The defaults are Everyone (View) and Admin (Edit). You can create more groups to control who sees each POI — see Managing user group permissions.

6. Editor: type the POI description. The editor supports formatting, links, tables, images, audio, and video.

7. Click Add media (images, PDF, audio, video) to attach further content.

Advanced tab (optional)

• Importance: set the POI's importance (for example, Medium), which affects how prominently it appears.

• Icon: upload a custom icon. Supported sizes are 32×32, 64×64, 128×128, and 256×256 pixels.

• Position: the POI's x, y, and z coordinates (read-only).

• Custom data: add custom data to connect the POI with applications built on the NavVis IVION platform.

• Visibility: toggle the POI on or off.

• Custom attributes: add key–value pairs, then click Add.

8. Click Save.

Delete a POI

1. Find the POI in the view, or use the topbar Search to search by name or description.

2. Open the POI's details panel and click Edit to open the Edit POI dialog.

3. Click Delete at the bottom-left of the dialog.

4. Confirm the deletion.

FAQ

How do I create a POI?

Right-click where you want the POI, select Create POI, fill in the dialog, and click Save.

Can I add multiple languages to a POI?

Yes. On the Basic tab, select a language and click Add language to add translations of the name and description.

Can I set a custom icon or importance?

Yes. Both are on the Advanced tab, along with visibility, custom data, and custom attributes.

What permissions do I need to edit a POI?

You need to belong to a user group with edit access to that POI. Site administrators can always edit POIs.

How do I delete a POI?

Open the POI's details panel, click Edit, click Delete, and confirm.

What does the view configuration do?

The view you save is restored for other users when they open that POI.
