After scanning buildings and facilities with a NavVis device, the 3D structure of the scanned environment can be generated as a Point cloud. The point cloud can be imported into 3D viewers, CAD programs or any other 3D modeling application which supports point clouds.
Point clouds are saved in the PLY format by default.
This format contains the following information for every point:
Coordinates x, y, z in meters from the Dataset's origin
RGB color information with r, g, b each in the range of 0-255
A normal on the surface in which the point lies. The normal vector points into the interior of the room in >99% of cases.
The curvature of the surface in which the point lies.
One can easily convert, crop, or down sample clouds for further use in CAD or 3D applications. We support conversion to the most common point cloud formats for a wide range of applications (supported formats)
