Article summary

Introduction

Purpose

This article describes how to disassemble the ZED cam holder from the NavVis M6 head unit. In some services or checks, esp. for cam1 of the NavVis M6, removing the ZED cam holder is essential to reach cam1.

Scope

This information applies to all NavVis M6 models.

Procedure

1 Assemble the NavVis M6, except the head unit

  • Assemble the NavVis M6 just as normal operations of the Wheel unit & body unit

  • Put the head on the body unit, and slide it back until it falls into the ditch as usual.

  • Here instead of pulling up the latch to lock the head, use the ditch (back of the NavVis M6 head) as pivot point, pull up the head with the handles and rest the head 90 degrees on the body unit, like this:

2 Take off the ZED cam holder screws

  • Take off the 4 screws that hold the ZED cam holder, with 2.5mm Allen key

  • Afterwards, take off the ZED cam holder, and you should be able to see the bottom of cam1:

3 Precision tool preparation on cam1

  • Put and lock the head on the body as one normally assemble the NavVis M6

  • Please prepare a small flat headed screwdriver, or a tiny Allen key, to be able to insert into the thin opening and be able to press the desired buttons on the camera. (E.g. the ring selection, OK button in the middle of the ring)

4 Turn on the NavVis M6 and continue with the service

  • Power on the NavVis M6, check if the system boots on normally and if (all) cameras turn on

  • Depending on what issue cam1 has, please follow with the service steps on setting cam1 correctly. Diagnosis and next steps should already been investigated by a Navvis support engineer.

DISCLAIMER

Please follow the disassembly closely with a trained NavVis support engineer, executions without supervision could be dangerous and at own risks.
