# Control Point Stickers

Each control point sticker must meet the following criteria:

- It is marked clearly with a cross (defines the exact location).
- It has an ID that is unique within the mapping project.
- It is made of robust material, such as intended for outdoor use.

NavVis provides a PDF template for control point stickers with a numbered label **000.**The numbers****can be changed by a printing supplier to sequential numbering (000, 001, 002, nnn…).

> **Note**: Stickers should be printed on robust sticker material. You can also design your own stickers, as long as it meets the above criteria.

> **Note**: Tags do not contain a clearly marked cross to define an exact location. These are incompatible with NavVis devices.

## FAQs

****What are control point stickers used for?****

Control point stickers are used to define exact physical reference points in a mapping project. They help align and georeference the captured data accurately.

****What criteria must each control point sticker meet?****

Each sticker must:

- Have a **clearly marked cross** to indicate the **precise location**.
- Include a **unique ID** within the scope of the mapping project.
- Be made of **robust material**, suitable for outdoor or high-use environments.

****Can I use the control point sticker template provided by NavVis?****

Yes. NavVis provides a **PDF template** with a default label ("000"). This template can be used by a printing service to create **sequentially numbered stickers** (e.g., 000, 001, 002, etc.).

****What material should I print the stickers on?****

Stickers should be printed on **durable, outdoor-grade material** to withstand various environmental conditions during scanning.

****Can I design my own control point stickers?****

Absolutely. You can design your own stickers, as long as they:

- Have a clearly defined cross at the center.
- Feature a **unique project-specific ID**.
- Are printed on **robust, high-quality material**.

****Why does the cross marking matter?****

The **cross defines the exact reference point** for alignment. It must be clear and precise to ensure accurate data capture and processing.

**What happens if IDs are reused or unclear?**

Using non-unique or unclear IDs can result in **data misalignment or errors** during post-processing. Always verify ID uniqueness within the project.
