## Troubleshooting procedure

1. Ensure that the SSD is properly inserted into the slot on the NavVis VLX. Check the SSD is fully inserted and tap **Retry**.
2. Check that the SSD is correctly formatted. Open **Disk Utility** and check that the format is exFAT or Ext4. Ensure that the SSD is named "data" and not "DATA". To format your SSD, refer to [Formatting an SSD card](/v1/docs/formatting-an-ssd-card).

## Advanced troubleshooting

1. Connect the SSD via a cable to the USB slot in the VLX and check if the SSD is operational.
2. If the SSD has never been used in a NavVis VLX, open a terminal and run navvis-mapping-ui to open the Mapping UI and setup the needed folders on the SSD. Rename the SSD "data" via the **Disk utility**.
