# Storage

Information about storing your NavVis VLX.

> - Improper storage may damage the ​NavVis VLX
> - Store the NavVis VLX in the box at normal room temperature according to the instructions below.

Do not store the device in areas exposed to:

- Direct sunlight
- High temperatures
- High humidity
- Fire
- Corrosive gas
- Machines with a strong magnetic field
- Machines that generate electromagnetic waves

## Battery Storage

- Store the batteries between - 20°C and 35°C, at less than 85% humidity. Humidity can get into the batteries and corrode them.
- When the batteries are stored some self-discharge will occur.
- If you store the batteries for longer than four weeks, only three or four of the battery's LED indicators may light up.
- Recharge the batteries every four weeks.
- Before re-use, recharge the batteries fully.

## Checklist for Removing NavVis VLX from Storage

- Charge all batteries.
- Allow the NavVis VLX to reach room temperature before turning it on (or internal condensation may cause short circuits and damage the device).
- Check that storage space is available on the SSD.
- Update the NavVis VLX software.
- Record a short dataset (around one minute) to make sure the is working as expected.
