# Replacing the NavVis MLX Fan Filters

Follow these instructions to replace the Fan Filter on your device.

> [!WARNING]
> **Caution:** If a warning is displayed indicating overheating at temperatures around 30°C, check to see if the Fan Filter is clogged. If it is clogged, replace it with a new Fan Filter, two are supplied in the Shipping Case. We recommend that they are replaced once a year.

The Fan Filter is located in the Back Cover of the device. To replace the Fan Filter perform the following:

1. Pinch the two plastic tabs together as shown below.
2. Pull out the Fan Filter Retainer.
3. Replace it with a new Fan Filter.
4. Add the new Fan Filter into the Back Cover.
5. Put the Fan Filter Retainer back into the Back Cover.
