# Previewing Datasets

The NavVis M6 offers a preview function that allows users to review the image information contained in Recorded datasets.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** The preview function is only suitable for an initial review of the results. As recorded datasets have not yet been post-processed, Point cloud information is not available and the images are blended rather than properly stitched together.

## Procedure

1. Tap **Preview Datasets** on the main screen.
2. Select the Dataset that you want to preview from the **Completed Datasets** screen.

3. This screen displays a preview of the scan in 2D, dataset ID, area scanned, duration of the scan, number of panoramas captured, and the number of control points captured.
4. In the preview screen now shown for the selected dataset, tap **PREVIEW**.

5. The Dataset preview screen opens and lists all of the panoramas for each capture location for the chosen dataset. To see a zoomed version of a set of panoramas, tap on a set to open it.

6. The selected set opens. To see a zoomed version of a panorama, tap on the image.

7. The panorama will open.

Aggregate of data recorded during mapping with a NavVis mapping device. The data needs to be processed to be consumable by applications like NavVis IVION.

A Point Cloud is as a collection of data points in space that typically represent the external surface of an object or environment. Point clouds are used in various applications, including 3D scanning and mapping, and can be visualized and manipulated using Navvis IVION. You can perform actions such as panning, orbiting, cleaning up noise, cropping, and downloading data in formats like .e57 or .ply. The resolution of point clouds processed with NavVis Software achieves a minimum detail of 5mm, indicating the precision of the spatial data points.

A dataset is a piece of a site, the result of a continuous recording with a NavVis mapping device or the result of an imported point cloud. Datasets can contain panoramic images and point clouds.
