# Preparing Your NavVis CLX for the Airport

You can travel through an airport with the NavVis CLX in two ways: with the shipping case or the backpack.

- Traveling with the shipping case.
- Traveling with the backpack.

## Traveling with the shipping case

Traveling through an airport with the shipping case is the most secure way to travel with the NavVis CLX, because the case is durable.

When traveling with the shipping case, you must remove the Li-ion batteries before checking it in. See Li-ion battery preparation before flying below.

## Traveling with the backpack

Traveling with the backpack through an airport is straightforward.

> The backpack must always come with you into the cabin of the aircraft, and never checked in with the hold luggage.

You can carry the Li-ion batteries in the backpack, but there are special conditions. See below.

## Li-ion battery preparation before flying

**Caution: Short-circuits**

- Damage to electronic components.
- Only certified personnel are allowed to prepare the Li-ion batteries for air transport.

The NavVis CLX Li-ion batteries must be taken on the plane as hand luggage. Cover the battery connectors with electrical tape to prevent short-circuits, or put each Li-ion battery in a separate plastic bag.

The airline may require you to carry the [battery datasheet](https://www.tefoobattery.com/product/gs2040ch#TextNormal2117_ba9414419efb02254acc60dd3938b2f20). Check the maximum watt-hours per battery allowed as cabin baggage by your airline. Normally, batteries with less than 100 Wh can be carried without prior approval. This information is also useful when passing security.

## Checklist before flying

- The Li-ion battery connectors are covered, or each Li-ion battery is in a separate plastic bag.
- The Li-ion batteries are in your hand luggage.
- Your hand luggage complies with your airline's weight limit.
- There are no loose objects.
- The shipping case or backpack is securely closed.
- Nothing is protruding from the shipping case or backpack.
