# Preparing the NavVis CLX for Scanning

Use this guide to prepare the NavVis CLX before you start scanning.

1. **Place the device on a flat surface.** Place it on a flat, level surface such as a table or the floor.

2. **Clean the cameras, scanners, and screen.** If dust or fingerprints appear on the cameras, laser scanners, or screen, use the supplied clean, dry microfiber cloth to clean them gently.

4. **Insert the microSD card.**

7. **Insert the pole into the device.**

  3.
