# Opening an Existing Project

Use this page to learn how to open an existing NavVis SiteMaker project from the**Project**tab. It explains how to load a project via the**Open Project**button or access it from the**Recent Projects**list using the `project_name.ini` file.

Open an existing SiteMaker project `project_name.ini&gt;` file from the **Project** tab:

1. Open SiteMaker.
2. Click the **Project** tab.
3. Open an existing project:
  - From the top right, click **Open Project**. Select the correct file and click **Open** to load the project.
  - or, from the **Recent Projects** window, select a project.
