# 'One control point is misaligned' error message troubleshooting

## Issue description

Processing for a specific Dataset has completed but the warning message **One control point is misaligned** is displayed.

Possible cause for this is one control point does not match the scanned data and/or other control points. There may be several reasons for this:

- The control point was not measured correctly with the total station (offset in low cm range).
- When using control point stickers, a sticker may have been misplaced before scanning.
- The device slipped while scanning this control point.
- There is a typo in the control point location in the anchor file.
- A SLAM break occurred during the scanning.

## Troubleshooting procedure

1. Click **View Control Point Configuration**to check the corresponding control point.
2. Click on the quality map and check for extensive drifts or SLAM breaks. You can identify SLAM breaks through double walls, shortened or extended walls/corridors, unnaturally tilted rooms or a jump in the trajectory.
3. If there is no obvious SLAM break, correct or exclude, the misaligned control point and rerun processing, refer to [How to exclude some control points from processing](/v1/docs/excluding-control-points-from-processing).
4. In case of a SLAM break, contact NavVis support and attach the following data to help us investigate the problem:
  - The [quality map](/v1/docs/quality-map): right-click on the quality map and click **Save image as**.
  - The [processing logs](/v1/docs/activity-log).
  - The [control point optimization logs](/v1/docs/control-point-logs).
