# NavVis System Software

Update the NavVis System Software using one of the following methods:

- From the NavVis M6 System Software.
- From the Ubuntu Operating System's native "Software Updater" application.

When you run the updater on the device, you are asked for the password of the relevant system user. The default username and password are:

| **User:** | mapper |
| --- | --- |
| **Password:** | mapper |

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** After updating the software, reboot the device.

> [!WARNING]
> **Caution:** From your device, we recommend you change the password to a custom one for better security. However, **never** change the name of the system user "mapper", since that would stop the device from working properly.
