# The User Interface

The User Interface (UI) is a touch screen that controls the features and functions of the device. From hereon in the User Guide we refer to it as the “screen”.

## Home screen

- **Battery Status ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bf174766-fa1a-4fe1-a4d7-b1db1e7cb996/Images/Documentation/mlx-ui-image-in0jefbn.png):**The battery icon indicates the charge level of the battery (the battery indicator turns red when the battery capacity drops below 20%). When the battery is empty, a warning indicator (!) is displayed on the battery icon to indicate it needs to be replaced, refer [here](/v1/docs/checking-and-charging-the-li-ion-batteries) for charging information.

## NavVis MLX Help Menu

From the NavVis MLX Home screen, tap the Help Button ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bf174766-fa1a-4fe1-a4d7-b1db1e7cb996/Images/Documentation/navvis-mlx-help-menu-image-xpy36m6i.png) at the top right of the screen to open the help menu. The following menu options are available:

- About this MLX.
- Remote Support.
- Save Logs.
- Tutorial.

### About MLX

From the **About MLX**screen, you can check the following:

- The NavVis System Software version installed on the NavVis MLX. The version number indicates the official release, while the software packages it depends on are numbered independently.
- The calibration version.
- The date when this device was last calibrated, in the format dd.mm.yyyy.
- Check for a [software update](https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/updating-the-navvis-device-system-software-1) and install the update to the device.

### Contacting NavVis

Contact NavVis Support with a precise description of the problem.

1. From the Help screen, click **Remote support**.
2. Contact NavVis Support using one of the following methods:
  - Email: support@navvis.com
  - Call:
    - **+49 89 208 04 04 05** for support in English and German
    - **+1 332 217 2420** for support in English (North America only)

### Remote Support

It is often beneficial for the NavVis support team to remotely connect to your device for a deeper investigation and to check if there is a software or hardware issue on your NavVis device.

To start a remote support session:

- Connect the device to the ethernet by inserting the supplied USB-C-to-Ethernet-Adapter into the USB-C port.

- Make sure the Li-Ion Battery is fully charged.
- From the **Help**screen, click **Remote Support**.
- Click the **Remote support** button. The TeamViewer instance will launch on the screen.
- Provide the device specific ID and password shown in this window to NavVis technical support.

## Accessing Tutorials

To access the tutorials, which describe best practices when using the NavVis MLX, perform the following steps:

1. From the **Help** screen, tap **Tutorial**.
2. From the **Tutorial overview** screen, tap one of the following tutorials:
  - Performing loop closures.
  - Optimizing point cloud capture.
  - Capturing panoramic images.
  - Capturing control points.

To access further information about NavVis MLX best practices, tap **Read more**and scan the QR code. The NavVis MLX starter training opens. Tap **OK**to close the QR screen.
