## The Plane of Polygon, Rectangle, and Circle Measurements

Polygon and rectangle measurements happen on one plane. Depending on the measurement mode, the plane will be defined differently:

- For free polygon measurements, you need three points to define a plane.
- For horizontal polygon measurements, you need one point to define a plane.
- For vertical polygon measurements, you need two points to define a plane.
- For vertical and horizontal rectangle measurements you need two points to define a plane.
- For vertical and horizontal circle measurements, you need two points to define a plane.

After defining the plane, the dotted blue line will show you the projection of the cursor on that plane. This projection will be used as a point in the measurement.

## Downloading measurements

To help you with the conceptual planning phase of a project you can download the measurements taken as a .CSV or .DSV file.

The feature enables you to export measurements from NavVis IVION into widely recognized formats CSV and DXF, enhancing workflow efficiency and data integration:

- CSV Export: Streamlines the process by eliminating manual data transfers from PDFs to Excel. This is particularly beneficial for facility managers, engineers, and designers who need accurate measurements for space management, site assessments, and other essential operations.
- DXF Export: Facilitates seamless integration of measurement data into CAD applications, serving as foundational linework for modelling or site planning directly within IVION.

1. With the measurement selected, click the **Download** icon.

2. The **Export measurements** screen opens. Enter the following information.
  1. Enter file name.
  2. Select .CSV or .DXF format from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select the Coordinate system:
    1. **Site coordinate system:**This was the coordinate system used when the site was created.
    2. **Spatial reference system:**Select from a drop down list the spatial reference system that the site uses.

A three-dimensional representation of an environment, made up of many points. A point is defined by x, y and z coordinates, and it may or may not contain RGB, an intensity value, and normals.

An auxiliary plane is a plane used in engineering drawings and projections that isn't one of the three principal planes (front, top, or side). It's used to show the true shape and size of surfaces that are not parallel to the principal planes. This is achieved by projecting the object onto the auxiliary plane, which is positioned to make the inclined surface appear in true shape.

In the panorama view, you can explore your data in a seamless experience. In this view, you can see both panoramic images and point clouds. By default, the main view of the NavVis IVION interface shows the panorama view.
