# Managing User Group Permissions

This section describes the how to manage your user groups and their related permission.

## Where do I go to Manage Group Permissions in an instance?

- Global admins can add, edit, and delete user groups for all Sites in a NavVis IVION Instance.
- Site admins can only add, edit, and delete user groups for their site(s).

## Groups Tab

In the **Groups** tab you can:

- See a list of user groups for each site in the instance.
- Add new user groups.
- Edit existing user groups.
- Delete user groups.

2. Click the level at which you want to add the new group (Admin, Editor or Viewer).
3. Click the **+ Add subgroup** button at the level at which you want to add the new group. The levels are Admin, Editor or Viewer. 5. Click **Save** to confirm the selection.

## Setting the lowest user group for a Site

This procedure describes how to set the lowest user group that can view a site.

2. Switch off the toggle for **Make site visible for everyone**.

3. A new field is displayed: **Select the lowest user group that can view this site**.

> **Note:** If this field is left blank, the choice will automatically be set to be visible to all.

4. Click inside the field and select the lowest user group that you want to be able to view this specific site.

5. Click **Next**.
6. Click **Save**.

#### What is the permissions model for user groups in NavVis IVION?

The permissions model allows global admins to manage user groups at the instance level, while site admins can manage user groups for their specific site(s).

#### Where can I find the Groups tab in NavVis IVION?

You can find the Groups tab under User Management > Groups on your instance dashboard.

#### How do I add a new user group?

To add a new user group, go to User Management > Groups, select the site, choose an existing group, click the + button, enter a name, assign permissions, and click Save.

#### Can I edit existing user groups?

Yes, you can edit existing user groups by selecting the group, clicking the pencil button, changing the name or permissions, and then clicking Save.

#### What happens if I delete a user group?

Deleting a user group will also delete all its sub-groups.

#### How can I set the lowest user group that can view a site?

To set the lowest user group, go to Edit Site, switch off the toggle for 'Make site visible for everyone', select the lowest user group, and click Save.

Site refers to a complex of one or more buildings displayed in a NavVis IVION instance. For example, the Munich Airport would be one site. An instance can contain multiple sites. Each site consists of one or more datasets.

A NavVis IVION instance is a copy of the NavVis IVION software running on a hosting server. An instance has a database which contains the associated datasets, users, and more. That data is accessible via the instance URL.
