# Can instances be stored long term on NavVis Cloud?

## There are two options for long term storage.

### 1 Archive the data

If you deactivate a NavVis instance, you will not be charged hosting fees, but the instance data will not be stored in the cloud. To archive the instance, [download the archive bundle and all other necessary information](https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/how-to-perform-a-site-backup-in-ivion) from the instance before deactivating.

When you want to restore the instance, [upload the archive folder and site components](https://knowledge.navvis.com/v1/docs/en/how-to-perform-a-site-backup-in-ivion?highlight=site%20backup#2-migrate-the-site-components-in-the-following-order) to an instance you have (or purchase one).

> [!NOTE]
> **Note: the link used to reach the instance will be altered. After the previous instance is turned off, that link will no longer exist.**

### 2 Continue using the same account

You can continue using the same instance and URL if you keep the instance active, but you will be charged hosting fees.

For long term storage, [unload the bundles](https://knowledge.navvis.com/v1/docs/navvis-ivion-instance-storage#panorama-storage) in the instance. The unloaded data is offline, but it is in the cloud and can be made available with the same URL at any time.

> [!WARNING]
> **Caution:** If you do not maintain this instance, you WILL lose all data stored there.

### FAQ

#### How do I move data from one NavVis IVION instance to another?

To move data between instances, download the archive bundle from the source instance through Dataset Management, then upload it to the target instance. For step-by-step instructions, refer to [How to Perform a Site Backup in NavVis IVION](/v1/docs/how-to-perform-a-site-backup-in-ivion).
