# Installing the NavVis Desktop Processing Software

Perform the following NavVis Desktop Software installation procedure on your desktop system.

## Prerequisites

To install the NavVis Desktop Processing software you must have the following:

- An active NavVis Desktop Processing update subscription.
- Ubuntu 22.04 [installed](/v1/docs/how-to-install-ubuntu-2204) on your workstation.

1. [Download](https://static.navvis.com/installation-scripts/) *installation-scripts.zip*.
2. Extract the files to your Ubuntu Operating System desktop.
3. Once the files are extracted:
  1. Open the extracted folder.

1. Enter your `sudo` (administrator) password when prompted.
2. The following options are displayed:

1. Type 1 to perform a clean install and press enter to confirm.
  1. If previous versions of NavVis software are installed, type 1 also to perform a clean install.

1. Your device login and password are required to access NavVis software repositories. Find your device login and password in your [NavVis portal accoun](/v1/docs/managing-desktop-processing-licenses)t.
  1. Provide your device login ( “username”, eg. G9-051@device.navvis.com)
  2. Provide your device password: <12 character password>

1. Press Tab to highlight the **Ok**option and press **Enter**.

1. Use the arrow keys to highlight **Yes**and press **Enter**.

1. A stream of messages displays, showing the installation progress.
2. Ensure the “NavVis Software installation is completed” message is displayed.

1. Reboot the desktop workstation after installing or re-installing NavVis software to correctly set up the environment.
2. For each device you want to process data for, place the corresponding NavVis Desktop Processing license file on your workstation, [download](/v1/docs/managing-desktop-processing-licenses) the NavVis Desktop Processing licenses to your workstation.

1. Move or copy all license files to (~/NavVis/Licenses). Create this directory if it does not exist.
2. Process a NavVis dataset to make sure no licensing error messages appear, refer to [Using NavVis Desktop Processing](/v1/docs/using-navvis-desktop-processing).
