Installing NavVis Desktop Processing Software

Prerequisites

To install the NavVis Desktop Processing Software you must have the following:

  • An active NavVis System Software license for each of your devices.

  • An active NavVis Desktop Processing Software license installed on your desktop processing system to process NavVis Datasets from a licensed device.

Procedure

Caution:

  • The procedure in this section is only applicable for installing the NavVis Desktop Processing Software on a server or workstation.

  • Do not attempt to repair, reconfigure, or reinstall the software of the NavVis device.

  • Update the software of the NavVis device using the standard update mechanism of the operating system, refer here for the device update procedure.

  • For any other modifications, you must contact NavVis technical support.

  1. Download the 'installation-scripts.zip' from https://static.navvis.com/installation-scripts/.

  2. Extract the files to the Ubuntu OS desktop.

  3. In the folder with the extracted files, double-click the 'Install NavVis Mapping Software Suite - Ubuntu' icon.

  4. With Ubuntu 22.04 system, you cannot directly launch the Installation icon by double-click after extraction.

  5. You need to first right-click on the Installation Icon, choose Allow Launching.

  6. Double-click the icon to initiate the installation procedures.

  7. Enter your sudo (administrator) password when prompted to do so.

  8. The following options are displayed:

  9. Type 1 from the keyboard and press the enter key to confirm.

  10. Your device login and password are required to access NavVis software repositories. Find your device login and password in your NavVis portal account at this location: https://support.navvis.com/licenses/system-software-licenses/. Only NavVis portal Account Administrators can access this site.

  11. Provide your device login (eg. G9-051@device.navvis.com)

  12. Provide your device password: <12 character password>

    Note: NavVis-web is no longer part of the NavVis Desktop Processing Software. If you have not switched to Docker for your NavVis on-premise installation, do not perform a clean installation as this will delete your On-Premise NavVis IndoorViewer installation.

  13. If previous versions of NavVis software are installed:

    • Type 1 from the keyboard and press the enter key to confirm.

    • If there were no legacy non-dockerized Indoorviewer instances running on the workstation, it is recommended to always choose the first option of fresh installation.

  14. A message displays indicating old packages are being uninstalled and the new packages are being installed.

  15. Reboot the desktop workstation after installing or re-installing NavVis software to correctly set up the environment.

  16. You must now install a NavVis Desktop Processing Software license file on the same workstation, refer here for the procedure.
