# Upgrading the NavVis VLX to Ubuntu 22.04

## Introduction

User guide to VLX Ubuntu 22.04 upgrade

- The Ubuntu 22.04 update can **only** be detected by **NavVis System Software version 3.2.0 or later**. If your device is running an earlier version, you **must first update the NavVis System Software** and **restart your device** before proceeding with the Ubuntu upgrade.
- **Do not** remove the batteries or disconnect the Ethernet cable during this process.

1. **Connect to the Internet** Ensure your NavVis VLX device is connected to the internet using an Ethernet cable connection.

3. **Start the Ubuntu 22.04 Upgrade** Once the Ubuntu 22.04 update is detected, a confirmation screen will appear. 4. **Ensure Sufficient Battery Power** The update will only proceed if device’s batteries are charged to **at least 50%**.
5. **Remove the External SSD** Safely remove the external SSD from the device. 6. **Upgrade process will begin** The device will start downloading and installing the Ubuntu 22.04 system update. 7. **Automatic Reboots** After the installation is complete, the device will automatically reboot. After the device reboots, the installation of the new Ubuntu 22.04 operating system will take place. This process will take approximately 5 minutes. Please wait until another automatic reboot.
