# How to rename or delete a control point in a dataset

## Introduction

### Purpose

Sometimes, a control point was not properly scanned. In a NavVis Dataset, this control point can later be renamed or deleted. Make sure to take note the control point’s name and the time it was captured to identify it correctly when deleting!

You can also cross-check on the quality map of a dataset located here: `/datasets_rec/<dataset_id>/qualitymap_rec.png`

## Procedure

Open `/datasets_rec/<dataset_id>/anchor_poses_recorded/txt` and adapt/delete the specific line of the control point you want to delete.

We recommend that you adapt the file in an Ubuntu/Linux-based system because other systems might add unwanted hidden symbols (eg. Windows newline) that might break post-processing.

A dataset is a piece of a site, the result of a continuous recording with a NavVis mapping device or the result of an imported point cloud. Datasets can contain panoramic images and point clouds.
