# How to Flash V98micro-C Battery to Show Status in NavVis VLX

Use this procedure to update the firmware on V98micro-C batteries produced in H1 2026. Batteries from this production batch may not communicate correctly with NavVis VLX, causing the charge status to display as 0%.

> **Note:** A firmware .bin file is required to complete this procedure. Contact NavVis Support at [support@navvis.com](mailto:support@navvis.com) to obtain the file.

## Scope

This procedure applies to customers who purchased V98micro-C batteries from bebob produced in H1 2026. ![Bebob V98microC Li-ion battery specifications and safety instructions for use.](https://cdn.document360.io/bf174766-fa1a-4fe1-a4d7-b1db1e7cb996/Images/Documentation/7692d382-c617-4419-bbc0-9a3fd1bcbbb1.jpg)

## Issue description

In H1 2026, bebob introduced a new V98micro-C battery version with a communication protocol that is not compatible with NavVis VLX devices. When connected, the battery powers the device, but the charge status displays as 0%. ![NavVis VLX interface displaying system software version and dataset options.](https://cdn.document360.io/bf174766-fa1a-4fe1-a4d7-b1db1e7cb996/Images/Documentation/f1d1d31b-a00b-454b-b9ca-9e72124a0ca9.jpg)

## Procedure

1. Format a USB-C flash drive using the exFAT file system with an MBR (Master Boot Record) partition scheme. ![Confirmation dialog for erasing data with options for naming and formatting.](https://cdn.document360.io/bf174766-fa1a-4fe1-a4d7-b1db1e7cb996/Images/Documentation/654611b3-f2d6-4c62-9929-19469d813fd2.png)
2. Copy the .bin file to the flash drive

.
3. Insert the flash drive into the USB-C slot on the battery (next to the charging port).
4. Press and hold the function key (the square LED button) for approximately 10 seconds.
  - The charge status LEDs (five LED bars) flash and then go off. Continue holding the button.
  - When the single LED bar next to the square button starts blinking green and blue, release the button. The firmware flash begins.
5. Wait for the single LED bar to turn purple. Flashing is complete.
6. The single LED bar blinks blue four times to confirm that version 1.4 is installed.
7. Remove the flash drive. The battery now works with NavVis VLX.
