# Updating the NavVis CLX System Software

You can update the System Software from the **Help** menu or the **Settings** menu.

> To update the NavVis system software, you need a NavVis CLX license subscription.

Before you begin, connect the device to the internet. To connect via Wi-Fi, see [How to Connect Your NavVis Device to Wi-Fi](https://knowledge.navvis.com/v1/docs/how-to-connect-your-navvis-device-to-wi-fi#introduction).

To check for updates and update your device:

> Note
> 
> If the device software is older than three months, a reminder message and a notification badge (a red dot over the **Settings** icon) appear on the screen. If you tap **Not now** on the reminder message, the message closes, but the notification badge stays until you update the NavVis CLX system software.

1. After the update, the system displays the version screen.
