# Editing a POI

This section describes how you can edit details and add further information to a POI.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**Users that only belong to the **EVERYONE**group do not have permission to edit POIs but are still able to view them. The user who created the POI must give your user group editing access to edit the POI. A site admin can always edit a POI.

1. Locate the POI you want to edit, or search for the POI name or description.

2. Select the POI and click **Edit** in the POI details panel to open the **Edit POI**dialog.

## Basic Tab

### **Set the Category**

> **Note:**Modifying the category is beneficial when you wish to enable searches alongside other related POIs, ensuring that when you search for a specific category, all POIs within that category will be shown.

### **Set the View for a POI:**

The view set for each POI will be shown whenever the POI is clicked.

- Click **Use current view**to save your present view location, angle, and zoom level. Before applying this option, adjust to the exact view you want to set for your POI.
- Click **Use closest panoramic image**to set the POI view to the closest panorama.

### **Set the View and Edit access rights**

- Click the **View******drop-down menu to change view access rights.
- Click the **Edit******drop-down menu to change the edit access rights.

### **Link a webpage in the POI description**

1. Click the link symbol in the POI description text editor.

2. Using the **Link Type** drop down menu, select **URL**.

3. Enter the **Display Text** that will link to the webpage in the POI description.
4. Enter the **URL**for the webpage you want to link.
5. Under the **Target** tab, choose where the webpage should open when the URL is clicked. The options are:
  - Not set (default)
  - <frame>
  - New window (_blank)
  - Top most window (_top)
  - Same window (_self)
  - Parent window (parent_)

6. Enter the Target Frame Name if you selected <frame>
7. Click **OK**and then click **Save**.

### **Link an E-mail in the POI description**

2. Select **E-mail** the **Link Type**drop down menu,

3. Enter the **Display Text** that will link to the E-mail in the POI description.
4. Enter the **E-mail Address** that you want to link.
5. Write a **Message Subject** and **Message Body** that will automatically display in an email when the link is clicked.
6. Click **OK**and then click **Save**.

### **Embed an iFrame in a POI**

1. Click the **Source**button to edit the HTML code for the POI description.

2. Replace the content for the **src**tag with the desired URL.

3. To apply styling, use the style tag. Any other methods will be overwritten when the changes are saved.

4. Click **Save**.

### **Move a POI**

1. Click **Move**

2. The editing dialog is hidden; **Cancel** and **Save Position** buttons are displayed at the bottom of the POI details panel.
3. In the 2D Map view or 3D Panorama view, click where you want to place the POI.
4. Click **Save Position** on the POI details panel.

5. Click **Save**.

### **Attach Media to a POI**

1. Click **Add Media (images, PDF, audio, video)**.

2. Select the file you want to upload.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**You can upload files up to 20 MB. The size of the POI in storage depends on the size of the media attached.

### **Opening External Links**

- External links are links that are not in the NavVis domain. To limit the chance of POI descriptions being used to spread malicious content, a notification will warn you that you are about to leave NavVis IVION if the POI description contains external links or external content in an IFRAME of the POI before opening the content.

## Advanced Tab

### **Change the Importance of a POI:**

The significance attribute in a POI serves as a priority indicator to assist in deciding which POIs should be concealed first when zooming out of the map. POIs are concealed when their icons become too clustered. POIs with high significance are the last to vanish.

1. From the **Importance** drop-down menu, select the new importance level.

2. Click **Save**.

### **Change a POI Icon:**

By default, a POI is displayed with the icon associated with its type. However, you have the option of uploading a custom icon for a POI.

1. Select the custom icon.

  - Click **Upload icon** to upload a new icon from your computer. Custom icons must be raster images (JPG or PNG) with a size of 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, or 256x256 pixels.
  - Click on the **list** icon to the left of the **Upload icon** button to choose a recently uploaded icon.
2. Click **Save**.

### **Add Custom Data to a POI:**

****For example, add custom data for an application built on top of NavVis IVION.

1. In the **Custom data** field, paste your custom data string into the text field.

2. Click **Save**.

### **Check Visibility:**

- When this checkbox is selected, any obscured POIs will not be shown. For instance, POIs might be hidden by an object or a section of a structure such as a wall.
- If the checkbox is unchecked, the POI will be visible in both panorama mode and Point cloud mode at all times, even outside the building's walls. However, if the POI is checked and selected, it will continue to be displayed. This setting can be turned off with admin rights, refer [here](https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/configuring-a-site-1#appearance).

### **Add Custom Attributes to a POI:**

Custom attributes can be incorporated into POIs within NavVis IVION. An example of a custom attribute might be a reference from an external system that links a geolocation to a record not found in NavVis IVION.

1. From the **Custom Attributes** area, enter the key in the **Key** field and the value for the key in the **Value** field.

2. Click **+** next to the fields to add the custom attribute to the POI. They are added beneath the existing fields.
3. Search for it in the attribute export file (.json recommended) or site/global search.
4. You can delete the custom attribute for the POI by clicking the delete icon next to the custom attribute.

5. Click **Save**.

#### How can I set the view for a POI?

You can set the view for a POI by selecting 'use current view' to save your present location, angle, and zoom level, 'use closest panoramic image' to set the view to the nearest panorama, or 'use previously specified view' to keep the same settings.

#### Can I link a webpage in the POI description?

Yes, you can link a webpage by clicking the link symbol in the POI description editor, selecting 'URL' from the Link Type menu, and entering the display text and URL.

#### Is it possible to attach media to a POI?

Yes, you can attach media such as images, PDFs, audio, and video by clicking 'Add Media' and selecting the file you want to upload.

In the map view, you can see the 2D maps of the site and where the site is located on a world map. By default, the map view is displayed in the mini view, which is the small window in the bottom right corner of the NavVis IVION interface. Clicking on the two small arrows on the bottom right corner of the screen switches between panorama view and map view.

In the panorama view, you can explore your data in a seamless experience. In this view, you can see both panoramic images and point clouds. By default, the main view of the NavVis IVION interface shows the panorama view.
