Formats other than these are not supported. - **Filtered point cloud**: the filtered and smoothed point cloud. - **Filtered point cloud in control points coordinate system**: the filtered and smoothed point cloud in the coordinate system of the control points used during processing. - **Panorama images (.zip)**: download panorama images. - **Dataset archive (.nvd)**: an archive of the dataset, e.g. for backing up the data. - **Control points log (.log)**: It is the log file containing control point data from processing (useful for reviewing which control points were used and their alignment results). It includes: - **Alignment log**: generated during the alignment stage of post-processing. - **Optimization log**: generated during the optimization stage of post-processing. - **Verification log**: generated during the verification stage of post-processing. - **Surveyed control points (.csv)**: the file uploaded during configuring new processing task. - **Raw point cloud** (NavVis M6 only): the filtered but unsmoothed point cloud. - **Raw point cloud in control points coordinate system** (NavVis M6 only): the filtered but unsmoothed point cloud in the coordinate system of the control points used during processing. - **Quality Report:** View detailed information about the dataset. ## Data formats If you download a Point cloud file, you can also choose a data format. The following data formats are available: - .e57 - .ply > [!NOTE] > **Note:** If you enabled the option **Include panoramas in .e57 point cloud** in the [processing settings](https://knowledge.navvis.com/docs/panorama-settings), the .e57 files contain unstructured point clouds and panorama images in a spherical representation. These files are compatible with the following third-party software: > > - Leica Cyclone 3DR Viewer > - Cloud Compare > - AVEVA > - Prevu3D > - PTC ## Quality Report The NavVis Quality Report provides a documented evaluation of alignment accuracy, residuals, and control point performance so you can verify that a dataset meets quality requirements before using it for design, modeling, or analysis. - **Summary:** Dataset capture and processed details including processing time, device serial and software version. - **Processing settings:** Dataset processing details including panorama settings, surveyed control points usage and coordinate system information. - **Xray Maps:** Floor plans that provide detailed insights into environments to visualize the structure and layout of buildings, including the distribution of rooms, corridors, and other spaces. - **Quality Maps:** The quality map illustrates the mapping quality by displaying the trajectory estimate, capture locations, and representing point cloud density through various shades of blue before and after processing. - **Cross-Dataset Alignment:** If CDA is activated for datasets to be processed and aligned collectively, the quality report features a section titled “Cross-Dataset Alignment”. This part provides information on the percentage of overlap and its strength. Furthermore, if Alignment Markers were utilized, the residuals for those will also be shown. - **Control Point Details:** - **Alignment residuals:** Alignment residuals refer to the discrepancies between estimated and surveyed control point positions. - **Optimization residuals:** Optimization residuals denote the deviation in the trajectory of estimated vs. surveyed control point positions after all optimization steps inside SLAM have completed. --- ### FAQ #### What is the first step to download processed data? Go to Data Processing > Processed Data. #### Can I select multiple datasets for download? Yes, you can select multiple datasets to download. #### What types of output files are available for download? Output files include filtered point clouds, panorama images, dataset archives, control points logs, surveyed control points, raw point clouds, and quality reports. #### What data formats can I choose when downloading a point cloud file? You can choose .e57 or .ply as data formats for downloading a point cloud file. #### Does the quality report provide details about the dataset? Yes, the quality report includes a summary of dataset capture, processing settings, Xray maps, quality maps, and control point details. #### Can the 3D data captured with NavVis be used in Virtual reality (VR) systems? Yes. When you enable the Include panoramas in .e57 point cloud option in the processing settings, the exported .e57 files are compatible with Virtual reality (VR) and immersive reality platforms, including Prevu3D and PTC Vuforia Area Target Generator. Export your processed data in .e57 format to use it in these third-party VR applications. #### What is an Ausrichtungsprotokoll (alignment log)? The Ausrichtungsprotokoll is the Control Point Verification Log. You can download it from Data Processing > Processed Data. Select your datasets, click Download, and choose Control point verification log. The log shows the difference between each dataset and its control points, so you can verify alignment accuracy. A result of less than 4 cm indicates successful alignment. #### How can I view the control points of a processed dataset? Go to Data Processing > Processed Data, select the dataset, click Download, and download the Quality Report. The report includes Control Point Details, including alignment and optimization residuals for the control points used during processing. To inspect or edit control points before or during processing, open the processing task and select View control point configuration. A dataset is a piece of a site, the result of a continuous recording with a NavVis mapping device or the result of an imported point cloud. Datasets can contain panoramic images and point clouds. A Point Cloud is as a collection of data points in space that typically represent the external surface of an object or environment. Point clouds are used in various applications, including 3D scanning and mapping, and can be visualized and manipulated using Navvis IVION. You can perform actions such as panning, orbiting, cleaning up noise, cropping, and downloading data in formats like .e57 or .ply. The resolution of point clouds processed with NavVis Software achieves a minimum detail of 5mm, indicating the precision of the spatial data points. Simultaneous Localization And Mapping An immersive technology that simulates a three-dimensional environment. NavVis IVION data can be exported in .e57 format with panoramas for use in VR platforms, including Prevu3D and PTC Vuforia Area Target Generator. ## Related - [Removing Unwanted Data](/removing-unwanted-data.md) - [Instance running low on cloud storage?](/instance-running-low-on-storage-capacity.md) - [How to Backup Your IVION Site](/how-to-perform-a-site-backup-in-ivion.md) - [How to perform a total POI backup](/how-to-perform-a-total-poi-backup.md)
