# Detection and Blurring

The **Panorama Settings** section in data processing includes two privacy-enhancing features: person blurring and license plate blurring. These features ensure privacy standards and meet data protection requirements.

- **Protects personal identity:** Faces and license plates become unreadable.
- **Enables safe sharing:** Data can be distributed to clients, partners, or public platforms.
- **Maintains spatial usefulness:** Unlike deletion, blurring keeps overall scene structure intact for measurements and navigation.

## Person Blurring

Person blurring is a feature that allows you to blur faces and bodies that appear in your NavVis IVION Instances for privacy and confidentiality. It automatically detects faces and bodies in the Point cloud and panoramas and blurs them during post-processing.

### Enabling Person Blurring

1. Open the **Configure** **Settings** tab.

2. Enable the Person blurring toggle.
3. Configure other settings you want to enable in that processing task.
4. Click **Start Processing**.

## License Plate Blurring

License plate blurring is a feature that allows you to blur license plates that appear in your IVION Instances for privacy and confidentiality. It automatically detects license plates in the point cloud and panoramas and blurs them during post-processing.

### Enabling License Plate Blurring

1. Open the **Configure Settings** tab.

1. Enable the License plate blurring toggle.
2. Configure other settings you want to enable in that processing task.
3. Click **Start Processing**.

> **Note:** The unit factor of *100 Units/Panorama* will be consumed for both person and license plate blurring, from remaining Processing Balance.

NavVis System Software version 2.13.1 or newer is required for person and license plate blurring. Datasets captured with older versions need the legacy blurring workflow.

A NavVis IVION instance is a copy of the NavVis IVION software running on a hosting server. An instance has a database which contains the associated datasets, users, and more. That data is accessible via the instance URL.

A Point Cloud is as a collection of data points in space that typically represent the external surface of an object or environment. Point clouds are used in various applications, including 3D scanning and mapping, and can be visualized and manipulated using Navvis IVION. You can perform actions such as panning, orbiting, cleaning up noise, cropping, and downloading data in formats like .e57 or .ply. The resolution of point clouds processed with NavVis Software achieves a minimum detail of 5mm, indicating the precision of the spatial data points.
