# Creating and Deleting a POI

## Creating a POI

1. In a Site, right-click at the location where you want to add a POI and select **Create POI**.

2. From the **Create POI** dialog, choose the language for the POI's name and description. Add any other languages the POI should translate to. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bf174766-fa1a-4fe1-a4d7-b1db1e7cb996/Images/Documentation/image-1771852677399.png)
3. Enter the name of the POI in the **Name** field.

4. From the **Category** drop-down menu, assign the new POI to a POI catagory.

5. Select the **View configuration**. The view set for each POI will be replicated when another user clicks on that POI.

  - **use current view**(default): saves the present view location, angle, and zoom level.
  - **use closest panoramic image**.
6. From the **View** and **Edit** drop-down menus, select the user groups that have permission to view and edit the POI. If you only want a specific group of users to see the POI you can select them them from the drop-down menu. The default groups are Viewer, Editor or Admin, but you can create more groups to show or hide POIs. 7. In the description box, type the POI description.

9. Click **Save**.

## Deleting a POI

1. Locate the POI you want to delete in the site interface, or search for the POI name or description.
2. Click **Edit** in the POI details panel to open the **Edit POI** dialog.

3. Click **Delete**at the bottom left of the dialog.

4. Confirm the deletion.

#### How do I create a Point of Interest (POI)?

To create a POI, right-click at the desired location in a Site and select 'Create POI'. Then, follow the prompts in the Edit POI dialog.

#### Can I add multiple languages to a POI?

Yes, you can choose a primary language for the POI's name and description and add additional languages for translation.

#### What permissions do I need to edit a POI?

You need to belong to a user group that has been granted editing access by the POI creator. Site admins can always edit POIs.

#### Is it possible to delete a POI once created?

Yes, you can delete a POI by locating it, opening the Edit POI dialog, and clicking 'Delete'.

Point Of Interest

Site refers to a complex of one or more buildings displayed in a NavVis IVION instance. For example, the Munich Airport would be one site. An instance can contain multiple sites. Each site consists of one or more datasets.

The (HTML) text describing what a point of interest stands for.

The user interface panel which displays the POI description and buttons for sharing, editing, and routing.

A point of interest is a marker placed in NavVis IVION that refers to objects or areas (e.g., cafeteria, coffee machine). POIs can store detailed information about the building features or locations they stand for. POIs appear in NavVis IVION as interactive icons that provide more information when users click on them.
