# Attaching the Laser Scanner Cap

Follow these instructions to attach the protective cap to the bottom laser scanner.

A collision may cause the protective cap to detach from the bottom laser scanner. Reattach the cap immediately by following these instructions.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** We recommend having your NavVis VLX serviced after a collision.

1. Align the cap with the pins in the NavVis VLX as shown here.

2. Press the cap firmly onto the NavVis VLX 3 and rotate until the logo is in the correct orientation.
